Columbia students may register to vote in either New York or from their home state. Bear in mind that if you register from your home state, you may need to apply for an absentee ballot. Check with your individual state and see the links below for more information.
The CPU welcomes your questions, comments, and feedback. Please send e-mails and questions pertaining to voter registration and this website to our Director of Operations, Caitlin Halpern, at chalpern@cupolitics.org.
National Voter Registration
Virtually all United States citizens can fill out the National Mail Voter Registration Form
(except residents of New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wyoming).
Alternatively, voter registration is available through the respective states.
Applications for absentee ballots must be done through the state.
Read the voter information for your state carefully. Policies, deadlines, and details vary by state.
The addresses link, where applicable, indicates where to send your form.
Note: Some states require copies of ID be sent with voter registration and/or absentee ballot requests.
